COMMUNITIES & KIDS

Communities and Kids are Funded by Families NSW. Our service provides support to families who have children aged from birth to 8 years of age. We support families and children in various ways...

  • Supported Playgroup sessions
  • Library Storytime literacy sessions
  • Circle of Security Parenting Program (COSP),
  • Circle of Security Classroom (COS Classroom)
  • Carer pamper sessions
  • Community events that include Community Fun days and Information Stalls
  • Early childhood development and Family information and referral.

Our groups are fun and engaging for children, while parents and carers have the opportunity to meet other parents, and access information advice and referrals. Playgroups and Storytimes run weekly in the school term. Families are invited to come along as often as they like and are welcome to join us for more than one group within the week. Our qualified and highly motivated staff are always on hand for support.

Please call our service on 6354 5906 or 0447 322 582 if you have any questions or need advice on Early Childhood or Family matters.

Parenting Programmes

Circle of SecurityCommunities and Kids promote positive parenting. In terms 2 and 4 we run The Circle of Security parenting program in partnership with LINC’s Community Hub Manager. The Circle of Security parenting program integrates attachment theory and is helpful in fostering positive relationships and practical strategies between parents and their children. This is an eight week program (2hour sessions) for parents/carers with children less than eight years of age. This program focuses on assisting parents to understand and read their children’s emotional cues and respond to them in a way that fosters stronger connections and a sense of well-being. We believe that this course will increase positive interactions between parents and their children as well as increase confidence within parent’s skills and their abilities.

Parenting Program Dates

The Circle of Security course runs over an 8 week period, 2hrs per week usually during the morning. Bookings are essential as there are limited spots available. Please call our office 63 545906 for further information.

Supported Playgroups

Kids PlayingOur supported Play groups are run by qualified and highly motivated staff who have extensive experience in early childcare and or community development. The locations of the supported play groups are located in Lithgow and Portland. Each play group is designed and programmed to suit the needs of each family and their children. There is a range of age appropriate activities that enhance gross motor, fine motor, language, cognitive and social skills. The supported playgroups are designed for families to make friendships and an outlet for children to experience a range of activities in a social environment. At these groups we encourage parents to be involved with their children during activities and group times.
